Dr Morgan is a regular jury member of the Australian Academy of Cinematic and Television Arts (AACTA), specializing in adjudicating original scores created for Australian films. These films range from short films with emerging directors to longer documentaries from more established production teams. Craig is regularly called upon to grade the musical contribution of the score in TropScore and TropFest films. Dr Morgan is regularly called upon to award prizes to the winners at various film-industry events, most recently at the Tropfest Craft awards in Parramatta (February 2017 and 2018) and KidzFlicks in Bondi Junction in 2016.
I have become a strong advocate for the Mental Health and Well-Being of other AGSC Members and more importantly the Screen Composers in our guild – some 430 members. I researched this highly stigmatized topic and brought this subject into the light – recently representing the AGSC at a national APRA (Australian Performing and Regularity Authority) event on the subject.
In 2013 I was asked to write 3mins of music to be played over the running scroll of industry members that had died in the previous year. This is not an easy task to fulfill, as the correct tone of reverence and respect must be achieved. I am proud of my work as I know it ‘hit the mark’ with many ‘moved’ audience members commenting on the success of the music. I created this piece out of love for the industry and for the AACTA organization
Early this year (2017) I was called upon by the ‘Australian National Maritime Museum’ to create background music and atmospheric effects to accompany the ‘Escape from Pompeii’ exhibition. I created four separate pieces that were placed around the artifacts fresh from their Italian museums.
Craig graduated from the Australian Film Television & Radio School in 2010 after completing a Graduate Diploma of Screen Music.
